What is Medicare?

Medicare is a federal health insurance system which covers people over age 65 who have a medical condition. This coverage helps with the costs associated with the aging process. Medicare does not cover all the expenses. Medicare comprises four parts - Parts A, Part B, Parts C and Part D. Various portions have different coverage and differing costs: Part A covers medical care and related services.

This section includes appointments to physicians and outpatient medical treatment. Part C provides similar coverage to Parts A and B and has been offered by private insurance companies. A section of this article discusses prescription drug coverage. What Part B covers Learn about what Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) covers, including doctor and other health care providers' services and outpatient care. Part B also covers durable medical equipment, home health care, and some preventive services. Medicare Advantage (Medicare Part C)

Medicare Advantage or Medicare Parts C is a type of insurance plan offered by private insurers that offers Parts A and B and often Part D (prescription drug insurance). If you do not receive a payment for Part B premiums you can still receive a premium paid by the company to cover the premium. However, most health care benefits offer the insured no premium.

Some bundle plans provide additional protection, including some costs for vision, hearing and tooth services. Unlike traditional Medicare Advantage, the plan offers a monthly cost of less than $1000. In 2022, you might spend up to $700. Some Medigap policies also cover services that Original Medicare doesn't cover, like emergency medical care when you travel outside the U.S. Learn the general rules for how Original Medicare works

Medicare Part A (hospital insurance)

Medicare Part A includes care for patients in a hospital or hospital, but does not offer custodial or prolonged services. Part A covers Hospice Care as well as Home Health Care. Medicare Part A also provides a deductible ($1556) for 2022 and coinsurance, which means the patient pays part or all of the costs associated with Medicare.

In 2020 patients will pay 389 dollars per day for 61st to 90th day hospitalizations in addition to more. Most individuals who have been paying Medicare taxes for a decade do not pay the Medicare Part A cost. Part A (hospital insurance) helps pay for inpatient hospital stays, stays in skilled nursing facilities, surgery, hospice care and even some home health care.
